Team takes on the 3 peaks challenge in May

This May, a brave team of staff from TruckEast will take on the daunting challenge of climbing the tallest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, as well as driving between them, all within 24 hours!

The Three Peaks Challenge, as it is widely known, involves ascending an incredible total of 3064 metres and driving 462 miles in one 24 hour period. It is the most highly regarded trekking challenge in the UK, and for good reason. A tough trial, yes, but by training smart and supporting one another, it’s one we’re sure our team will be able to complete to raise funds for a fantastic charity, SENSE.

The 16 hikers are from across various TruckEast branches, and include an assortment of job roles from technicians to area sales managers. The challenge will begin at 5pm on Saturday 11th May, with Scotland’s mighty Ben Nevis being the first peak they will encounter. Afterwards, there will be a long overnight drive to the volcanic hump of England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike. The team will start the steep and relentless route in the very early hours, so here fitness levels won’t be the only challenging factor, sleep deprivation is bound to kick in. Following another 5 hour drive, the team will arrive at the UKs most popular mountain, Snowdon. It is known for extreme weather conditions, and we can see why with wind speeds reaching up to 150mph! Finally, after descending their final 1085 metres, the team will be able to have a well earned rest and of course some mighty celebrations!

The group will be completing the challenge to raise money for SENSE, a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. They offer vital support and advice to families and individuals with sensory difficulties. If you would like to donate, you can visit their just giving page here. Make sure to follow our social media pages - we will be posting regular updates so you can keep up to date with how the groups training is going!
