With over 600,000 HGVs on the roads in the UK, vehicle safety and compliance are major factors in the transport industry. So, it goes without saying that passing an MOT first time is high on the agenda for haulage operators nationwide. failing an MOT does not just mean downtime, but it has a negative impact on operator's compliance risk score.
Back in 2018, across TruckEast we committed to focusing on internal processes around MOTs to raise their first-time pass rate. This investment and focus throughout the group, has delivered continuous improvment and taken the business to where it is today.
The results speak for themselves with seven of our Scania branches scoring over 99% first-time pass rate in 2022. Bury St Edmunds (then kown as Stowmarket) and Felixstowe delivered an impressive 100% pass rate, closely followed by Kings Lynn, Thetford, Norwich, Northampton and Ely, all of which scored 99% first-time passes.
Overall, the group carried out a staggering 4,879 MOTs, a volume increases of 18% on the previous year and achieved an average first-time pass rate of 98.5% - which exceeds 2021 results by 0.5%.
Group Aftersales Director, Martyn Clipston comments, "Customers rely on us as their dealer to keep their business moving. Passing an MOT the first time is important to operators for both uptime and compliance, and therefore remains a high focus for TruckEast. The teams worked hard in 2022 to continue the momentum and deliever far above the industry average".
TruckEast offers both MOT preparation and presentations at its 13 Scania branches and has 5 fully equipped ATF lanes within the group. All its dealers sites also offer extended opening hours to provide additional convenience for operators.
